What Is Impasse?
As in Fall 2019 and Fall 2021, United Faculty again filed a declaration of impasse this semester, Spring 2024, with the Public Employees Relationship Board (PERB) when negotiations with the district stalled. A multi-stepped process of mediation and fact finding, the impasse procedure ends with a recommendation for a salary and benefits settlement. The following documents thoroughly explain this process:
